Smeg UK supports Macmillan Cancer Support as Charity of Year 2012
The team at Smeg has some exciting plans to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support throughout 2012.
Smeg singled out Macmillan as its charity of the year to help support the vital work the charity carries out across the UK and have planned a number of initiatives throughout 2012 to help aid fundraising.
First in the diary is in June, where a brave team of walkers, drivers and support staff take on the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland. The team begins the challenge on Ben Nevis reaching a height of 1344m, then travels to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and finally climbing to the summit of Snowdon at a height of 1085m.
The climb becomes increasingly difficult as the challenge unfolds, draining energy and depriving the walkers of sleep, meaning extensive training in preparation for the challenge is essential. The team have already undergone several training sessions in preparation for the big day, including a gruelling climb in the Breacon Beacons – battling against horrendous weather! Stay tuned to find out of some of the forthcoming fundraising initiatives planned by Smeg, including the famous World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September.
