Italy has the largest and most diversified wine production in the world. Its climate, the different varieties of grapes, its geological characteristics and the lay of the land make the “Bel Paese” - which the Ancient Greeks called Enotria, “land of wine” - the ideal place to produce excellent wines.
Wine and food culture reflect Italy’s soul, through different landscapes, customs, traditions and know-how. The numerous labels and their different organoleptic qualities require optimal preservation, in order to maintain their characteristics and ensure that their taste remains unchanged over time.
The charm of the wine world and the importance of its preservation inspired Smeg to develop a new range of wine coolers that are technological design masterpieces.
The materials used have been carefully selected, in cooperation with expert sommeliers, who have helped create a range of excellent technical and high-quality products.
Smeg wine coolers use the latest technology to correctly store and age wine and whether it’s white, red, rosé, still or sparkling, wine always requires several ideal conditions to preserve its characteristics. The taste of a wine and its quality can be measured according to several chemical parameters and other purely personal ones. In order to better preserve these characteristics, there are some essential conditions required and Smeg has accurately developed a solution for each and every one of them.
The range between 8° and 16°C is ideal for proper storage and aging of wine.
To inhibit the natural oxidation process of wine, humidity must be kept between 60 and 80%.
Light and UV rays can alter the organoleptic structure of wine which is why storage in protected environments is recommended.
Even the smallest vibrations can have a negative effect on the wine: it is therefore essential to preserve the stability of the bottle as much as possible.
When appropriately matched, the right wine and food combination can elevate and transform a dining experience from mediocre to truly exquisite. With SmegConnect you will find food and wine pairings for every occasion.
A precious drawer, completely panelled in natural Oak, compliments the 45cm reduced height wine coolers. The drawer houses a sommelier tasting kit consisting of: one steel and wood corkscrew, one steel vacuum wine saver with two silicone corks, one Spumante wine cork, cork to pour wine, one drip-catcher, one sparkling wine steel and wood cork, a pair of Spumante pincers, one thermometer with housing, one red wine cork and one steel and wood funnel.
