Thank you for choosing one of our Smeg kettles.

In this section, you will discover some crucial maintenance information on:

CLEAN AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

For maintaining the external surfaces of the kettle, it is recommended to clean them regularly – after each use once the kettle has cooled down.

These instructions are particularly relevant for the special colour editions, such as the matt and the metallic ones.

MATT EDITION

METALLIC EDITION

For the cleaning process, we recommended using warm soapy water on a lint free cloth to gently wipe the surface. If necessary, repeat the procedure. Afterwards, promptly dry the surface using a soft cloth or microfibre cloth.

To avoid damaging the surface, it is important to remember the following:

  • Do not use steam jets to clean the appliance
  • Do not use cleaning products containing chlorine, ammonia or bleach
  • Do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents (e.g. powder products, stain removers and metallic scourers)
  • Do not use rough or abrasive materials or sharp metal scrapers

When pouring water into the kettle, ensure that you do not exceed its maximum capacity. This will prevent the buildup of scale in the kettle's opening mechanisms and help preserve its functionality. You can find the maximum water quantity specified directly on the kettle.

CORRECT DESCALING

Descaling the kettle is a crucial and necessary process to ensure its optimal performance, and efficiency, prevent damage to the product, as well as promote energy savings.

Initially, scale accumulates on the inner base of the kettle. It is important to periodically inspect this area to determine when descaling is required.

Example of kettle inner base

Regular descaling is essential and should be performed whenever scale appears on the base of the kettle.

To descale the kettle, you can use either white vinegar or a specific descaling product.

If you are using white vinegar, follow these instructions. If you are using a specific descaling product, refer to its instructions to determine the correct quantity of product to add to the water.

1) Fill the kettle with water and connect it to the plug. For KLF03 and KLF04 kettles (1.7 L of capacity), you should insert 1 L of water. For KLF05 kettles (0.8 L of capacity), it is suggested to add 0.5 L.

2) Activate the kettle and let the water boil.

3) Immediately after the boiling cycle, when the water is still hot, add the white vinegar (or the descaling product) directly into the kettle. For the KLF03 and KLF04, add between 100 - 500 ml of vinegar, depending on the amount of scale. For the KLF05, add between 100 - 200 ml of vinegar.

4) Leave it act for 8-10 hours.

5) Empty the kettle.

6) Fill the kettle with water and boil it. Empty the kettle, disposing of the water safely. Repeat this operation at least twice.

FOR BEST RESULTS

To keep your kettle looking its best, keep it out of direct sunlight as natural fading can occur.
