L'evoluzione di Casa Smeg

Discover L'evoluzione di Casa Smeg, our immersive trade showcase where guests explored the future of kitchen design through innovative appliances, and inspiring roomsets.

About the event

In June, Smeg UK brought together leading voices from across the design and retail industries for an immersive trade pop-up in London’s Covent Garden. Titled L’evoluzione di Casa Smeg, the event offered a first look at the next chapter of Smeg’s kitchen innovation, with a particular focus on the future of cooking. Guests, including retailers, developers, journalists, architects, and designers, were invited to experience a curated showcase of upcoming appliances and new design directions. At the heart of the space were beautifully styled kitchen roomsets, designed to bring each collection to life in a real-world setting. There was also a live panel discussion exploring the evolving role of the kitchen. Hosted by Dezeen’s deputy editor Cajsa Carlson, the conversation featured MUSA designer Carlo Borromeo, design journalist Roddy Clarke, and technology broadcaster Lucy Hedges. Together, they shared perspectives on how design, innovation and lifestyle are shaping the kitchens of tomorrow. These themes were then brought to life throughout the exhibition itself.

Bringing the future kitchen to life

Designed by Kate Watson-Smyth, a series of immersive kitchen environments invited guests to explore how innovation, design and lifestyle are shaping the future of the home. Each space offered a different perspective on contemporary living, demonstrating how Smeg's latest collections can be integrated into a variety of interiors while enhancing the way people cook, entertain and connect.

The appliances that brought Casa Smeg to life

Among the standout features of the exhibition were ISOLA, Smeg's new architectural island collection developed with Stefano Boeri Interiors, alongside the latest Portofino and Opera range cookers, the new MUSA built-in aesthetic and upcoming additions to the Dolce Stil Novo collection. Together, these collections showcased how innovation, performance and design can shape the modern kitchen.

The isola collection

Positioned as a striking centrepiece within the exhibition, ISOLA demonstrated how cooking, extraction and lighting can be brought together in a single seamless architectural solution. Developed with Stefano Boeri Interiors, the collection transforms the kitchen island into a multifunctional hub, creating a more open, sociable and connected kitchen environment while combining innovative technology with refined design.

Distinct spaces, one vision

Alongside ISOLA, visitors explored a series of immersive kitchen environments, each designed to demonstrate how different Smeg technologies, aesthetics and product collections can enhance the way people cook, entertain and live at home.

Musa

Rich burgundy cabinetry and warm Mediterranean-inspired textures created a welcoming backdrop for the new MUSA collection. At the heart of the space was Smeg's SpeedwaveXL technology, combining multiple cooking functions in a single appliance to save both time and kitchen space. The roomset demonstrated how advanced cooking performance can be seamlessly integrated into everyday living.

A cohesive vision for the home

Beyond the kitchen displays, visitors also discovered tactile matte finishes and emerging colour directions, offering inspiration for bringing colour, texture and personality into the home.

Matte moonlight

Inspired by natural stone formations and the quiet beauty of the lunar landscape, the display combined textured rock surfaces, soft mineral tones and a striking moon projection to create an immersive setting. Within this atmospheric space, the Portofino range cooker, coordinating small appliances and FAB refrigerator were all presented in matte moonlight, a new finish that reflects the growing desire for softer, more natural colour palettes within the home.

The display was complemented by a selection of iconic FAB refrigerators in contemporary matte colourways, from the warm terracotta tones of amber clay to the vivid emerald green. Together, the displays showcased how matte finishes can bring depth, texture and character to interiors while introducing a softer, more contemporary approach to colour throughout the home.
