American Style Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 150 g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 50 g caster sugar
  • 140ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 25 g butter, melted (plus extra for the pan)

Method

  • Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and caster sugar into a bowl. In a separate jug, add the milk, egg, and melted butter and combine.
  • Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients using a whisk (electric or hand) beat until you have a smooth batter (this will be a thick batter). Leave batter to rest.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the frying pan and add a knob of butter. Once melted, add a ladle of batter into the frying pan.
  • Cook for around 3 minutes each side or until golden brown.
  • Repeat until the batter is used up.
  • Serve with a topping of your choice.
