Apple Tart

Discover our irresistible apple tart recipe – the perfect cosy dessert for chilly afternoons. Made with fresh apples and a buttery crust, it's a must-have treat for any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

  • Shortcrust pastry case, pre-baked
  • 8 apples
  • 50g golden caster sugar
  • 25g butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp apricot jam
  • Icing sugar to serve

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees using the Circulaire function.
2. Peel, core and chop 4 apples roughly into pieces.
3. Microwave the apples to stew them. Put the apple pieces into a microwave-safe dish with 2 tbsp water and 1 tbsp of sugar. Cover the dish with pierced cling film and microwave for 4-6 minutes using a medium wattage, stirring halfway through.
4. For the remaining apples, peel, core and half, then cut into even-sized slices.
5. Spread the apple puree over the base of the tart case.
6. Arrange the apple slices how you like within the tart case.
7. Brush the apples with butter, then scatter over some sugar and bake for 25 minutes.

• Add flavour infusions – add a hint of fresh or dried herbs like rosemary, thyme or basil to the filling for a sophisticated twist. Even add a splash of brandy, bourbon or calvados to the apple filling.
• Add toppings, why not drizzle caramel sauce, honey or maple syrup over the tart to give it a sweet and sticky finish.
