SNAP HAPPY SMEG CAPTURES BERKSHIRE SHOW WITH A RETRO PHOTOBOOTH

The sun was shining on us for our first appearance at The Royal Berkshire Show in Newbury. Both mornings started cold, with the team having to warm chilly hands in front of an open Victoria range cooker on the stand. Each day though, the sun burst through the mist and with it, crowds began to come and find us.

To keep show-goers entertained, Smeg had bought along the 50’s style photo booth caravan and served up home-made goodies throughout the day. Starting with mixed berry smoothies made in the new blender, we then served up bagels with Nutella and banana, cooked on our amazing bagel function in the Smeg toaster. They really are better toasted on one side, trust us! For lunch the public were treated to freshly made pizza with prosciutto ham, olives and rocket, a real winner. The pizza stone in the oven really does made a difference, no soggy bottoms here.

The cooking didn’t stop in the afternoon, with shortbread bites dipped in orange syllabub and fresh scones with cream and blueberry jam available for passers-by. The oven and stand mixers were working overtime. Well done to the chefs who worked tirelessly both days to keep everyone fed; everything was taste approved by most of the showground.

On the stand, we had a variety of colourful small appliances with a competition to win a blender. This proved popular and we had hundreds of entries over the weekend. The photo booth was also a great success, with celebrities such as Pudsey Bear and Barney the Sheep all getting involved. Pudsey even helped us with some cooking!

The weather stayed all weekend, keeping both the Smeg team and public in high spirits. News of the free Smeg sunglasses spread like wildfire and requests for them came in thick and fast. They were the must-have item of the show for both young and old.

All-in-all, the weekend was a sunny success with many people coming to chat to us, taste the food and learn about the range of products we offer. We’ll see you next year Newbury.
