Last week, stores throughout Regent Street & St James in London took part in a variety of events and demonstrations for their creative arts & crafts evening #ShowInTheDark, a total of 20 events took place in the area. Smeg St James’s were pleased to support the event and host an exclusive cooking demonstration by Isaac Carew, chef and author of The Dirty Dishes cookbook.

Trained by renowned chef Angela Hartnett MBE, protégé of Gordon Ramsay, at The Connaught, London, Isaac quickly became a professional chef in his own right, alongside his modelling career for brands like Valentino and Hermes. He later decided to return to his love of cooking and launched his 1st cook book, aptly named ‘Dirty dishes’ this month, which includes food that inspired his love of cooking over the years.

Held in the impressive Smeg cooking theatre, Isaac expertly prepared a delicious Crab Linguine from his cookbook, whilst discussing his love of food with his guests.

A number of Smeg appliances were used throughout the demonstration. The powerful Smeg stand mixer was fitted with pasta roller and cutter attachments, which stretched and cut the pasta with ease. Isaac was also impressed with Smeg’s new induction hob offering total temperature control allowing pans to be kept simmering nicely alongside the downdraft extractor which at a push of a button was raised from beneath the worktop to remove excess steam quickly and efficiently.

The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, not least by Isaac, who loved using the Smeg Stand mixer so much on the day that he now has one for himself!

This Thursday Angela Hartnett herself, Chef Patron for Murano restaurant, will be holding a masterclass in the store.
